After winning the Champions League last season, the Reds will get a shot at another European trophy this week when they travel to Istanbul to face Chelsea, the Europa League winners from last season, in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday.
The Blues are fresh from a deflating 4-0 defeat at Old Trafford on Sunday, but Frank Lampard and his men have enough grit to stage a comeback and push Liverpool.
This will be a chance for both teams to win an early trophy that can set the tone for the rest of the campaign.

Liverpool are yet to release an official statement about the extent of Alisson Becker’s injury.
The Brazilian was subbed off against Norwich, and will not play in Turkey. Nathaniel Clyne, suffering from a long term injury, is the only other absentee from the squad ahead of this game.

Defence
With Alisson ruled out, Liverpool’s new signing Adrian, who failed to keep a clean sheet against Norwich, will start this game under the bar.
Virgil van Dijk is one of the first names on the team sheet for Liverpool and he will hope to keep the likes Barkley and Pulisic frustrated in the game.
Joe Gomez started against Norwich City, but Klopp might trust Joel Matip to do a job against the big boys in this game.
Trent Alexander Arnold and Andrew Robertson were both impressive against the Canaries, and will look to continue their form against their English rivals.
Midfield
Fabinho was one of the best players for Liverpool against Norwich City, and he will once again be crucial against a Chelsea side that showed good confidence in their build-up play despite losing by four goals.
Jordan Henderson should keep his place in the midfield. The skipper nearly scored on the opening day, and will look to get forward and test a shaky Chelsea defence come Wednesday.
Naby Keita will surely enter Klopp’s mind, but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was one of the most impressive players for the club in the pre-season and deserves to start this game as a part of the midfield three in the Liverpool lineup.
Attack
Divock Origi opened his account against Norwich and has done enough to retain his place in the Liverpool lineup. He will keep Sadio Mane out, who might make another substitute appearance.
Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino were unstoppable at times against Daniel Farke’s men. They will test the resilience of the likes of Kurt Zouma, Emerson Palmieri, and Andreas Christensen, all of who had a forgettable trip to Old Trafford.
