Top 3 bargain buys of the summer including new Tottenham and Arsenal signings

ryan sessegnon

The Premier League is arguably the most appealing football league in the world, and is an exciting prospect for players across the globe.

During the transfer window, which closed on 8th August in England, the English clubs spent record amounts to bolster their team.

From the transfers that took place earlier this summer, here are the top three bargain buys.

Kieran Tierney

Arsenal’s really needed a left-back this summer as Nacho Monreal is past his prime and Sead Kolasinac has been criticised for not doing enough in the defensive phases of games.

Kieran Tierney had been a long-term target for Arsenal and the Gunners finally managed to sign him from Celtic for a transfer fee of £25million.

By signing a swashbuckling fullback who had taken the Scottish Premiership by storm, the north London outfit have a complete full-back.

Considering that Tierney is a 22-year-old, he has the time to develop further and signing for a big club like Arsenal will help him progress in his career.

Ryan Sessegnon

Tottenham Hotspur secured the signature of Ryan Sessegnon for £25million, which is not a bad fee if we consider the inflation in prices of English players in the transfer market.

The 19-year old had a mixed season in the top flight, understandably so as he played for a struggling side like Fulham.

His maturity belies his age and he is versatile enough to play as a left-back as well as a left-winger. With pace to burn, he can stretch defences, and he has the abilities to suit Mauricio Pochettino’s style of play as well.

Pochettino has a good track record of getting the best out of younger players, so Sessegnon could become a key player for the Lilywhites later this season.

Andre Gomes

Andre Gomes spent the previous season on loan at Everton, and the Toffees managed to sign him permanently this summer from Barcelona for just £22million.

The 26-year-old is entering his peak years as a footballer, and he could be a big influence in the dressing room and on the pitch for the Toffees.

Gomes starts attacks from the deeper regions and has the calibre to pick out players with his pin-point passes. He also makes good use of spaces around him and can dictate the tempo of the game.

With Marco Silva’s side aiming for a European spot this season, Gomes will have a big role to play.
