Liverpool are eyeing a move for Girondins Bordeaux forward Francois Kamano who has two more years left on his contract with the Ligue 1 club.
According to a report from The Sun, the Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is interested in bringing the 23-year-old to Anfield with Bordeaux asking £15m upfront and £5m in add-ons.
The German boss is keen on the Guinea international as he hopes the player will add some quality depth to his diligently constructed squad who will be fighting on four fronts next season.
The right-footed forward scored 13 goals and provided 4 assists in 51 appearances for the club across all competitions last term.
Useful option for Klopp?
Kamano is a versatile player who primarily features as a left-winger and possesses the ability to feature across the frontline.
The Bordeaux man is someone who likes to cut inside on his favourite foot to have a pop at goal and also has the ability to take on defenders at will, thanks to his excellent dribbling skills.
He managed 1.1 dribbles and 2.2 shots per game across all competitions last term, which is a testament to his flamboyant style of play in the final third.
The Guinean is also a great counter-attacking threat, often making surging runs into the opposition penalty box.
He boasts decent pace and resonates all-round energy in his approach play.
The 23-year-old is a decent passer of the ball averaging a pass success rate of 81%, but his passing range requires work on the training ground.
He recorded poor figures of 0.1 crosses, 0.9 long balls, and a similar number of key passes per 90 minutes last term.
While he is quick on his feet and energetic while attacking, his tracking back or the lack of it can cause some problems in the high intensity of the Premier League, especially for the Reds.
Having plied the entirety of his trade in the French division, the right-footed winger understandably lacks Premier League experience.
Some of these concerns are bound to raise doubts among the fans and the Reds hierarchy.
However, with less than a week to go in the transfer window, a quality economic option in Kamano will be hard to overlook.
The 23-year-old could be a good addition to the squad and could do the work for the European champions especially with limited attacking depth at Klopp’s disposal.
