Farke’s Tried And Tested XI: Predicted 4-2-3-1 Norwich City Lineup vs Chelsea

norwich city lineup

Norwich City will look to make it two wins in two games when they welcome Frank Lampard’s Chelsea to Carrow Road in a lunchtime kick-off on Saturday.

The Blues lost to Manchester United on the opening day and were held to a draw by Leicester City at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

Lampard will hope that his side can find some form in this tie, but against a Norwich side that has proven hard to beat, they will have their work cut out.

Daniel Farke has an exciting squad at his disposal for this game, but might not change the starting XI from the last two outings. Here is the predicted lineup he might field for this tie:

Norwich City Team News

Timm Klose and Christoph Zimmermann are still nursing injuries and will be unavailable for this game, along with Josip Drmic, who is also not fit. But Farke can call upon Ibrahim Amadou, who could find a place on the bench against Chelsea.

Predicted Norwich City lineup (4-2-3-1)

Defence

Tim Krul was hardly tested by his former side last weekend, and will hope to have a similar outing a struggling Chelsea attack this week. The absence of Klose means that Farke will have to stick with Grant Hanley and Ben Godfrey, both of who have been decent in the early stages of the season.

They will look to dominate Tammy Abraham, while Max Aarons will be responsible to keep Christian Pulisic quiet, starting at right-back. Jamal Lewis has quietly been effective at both ends of the field and should keep his place in the side at left-back.

Midfield

Moritz Leitner played the full game against the Magpies, and did enough to keep his place in the middle of the park for Norwich this weekend.

He and Tom Trybull, as a midfield pair, will have to deal with the threat of Mason Mount and the energy of N’Golo Kante, to help the hosts maintain a grip on this game.

Attack

Teemu Pukki’s hat-trick against Newcastle United takes him to four goals from two games, early this season. He will be up against Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen, both of who have been out of form, and will fancy his chances to add to his goal collection.

He will be supported by Emiliano Buendia on the left flank and Todd Cantwell on the right flank. Both players have troubled established defenders in the league so far this campaign and could prove tough to mark for Chelsea’s backline as well.

Marco Stiepermann had an average game against Liverpool but was superb against Newcastle United last week and deserves to keep his place in the no.10 role against Chelsea.
