Earlier this week, Bournemouth lured Dutch wing sensation Arnaut Danjuma from Club Brugge to the Vitality Stadium for a reported transfer fee of £13.7million.

Bournemouth finished fourteenth in the Premier League standings last season and it goes without saying that they will strive for a top-ten finish in the upcoming campaign.

Danjuma has been the fourth signing by Bournemouth in the ongoing transfer window and there is no denying that Eddie Howe has been shrewd in beefing up his ranks this summer.

Howe’s camp had already acquired the services of Philip Billing, Lloyd Kelly, and Jack Stacey and the entry of Danjuma has further enhanced the quality of Howe’s arsenal.

Arnaut Danjuma: Career so far

Danjuma started his youth career at Dutch outfit FC OSS in 2008 and then joined the renowned youth academy of PSV Eindhoven in the same year and stayed there for six years.

Despite his potential, he couldn’t cement his place in their senior side and following his stay for a couple of years at NEC, he switched to Club Brugge last summer.

During the previous campaign, the 22-year-old mustered 25 appearances under his belt and excelled with his attacking prowess as he managed to plunder 6 goals.

Besides, he has also represented the Dutch national side, having made his debut against Germany back in October and is touted to have a bright future ahead of him.

Worth the outlay?

Predominantly a winger, Danjuma is versatile enough to operate as a secondary striker. His pace in the final third is also something which makes him a threat.

The Dutch sensation has the calibre to stretch the opposition backline and is capable of holding the ball well in the attacking sector, which is essential to succeed in England.

His excellent dribbling skills enable him to glide past defenders and his crossing and ability to manoeuvre space for himself is also commendable.

Danjuma is quite strong and powerful as well and is good in the air, which is why he could be a handy asset for the Cherries during the set-pieces.

Although the detractors might point to his lack of Premier League experience, it has to be noted that he has the attributes required to excel therein and will be able to develop himself further under Howe’s excellent guidance.

With David Brooks ruled out for three months with an ankle injury, Danjuma is expected to play a crucial role in the attacking endeavours of his new side and will improve their credentials in the wide areas on the pitch.
