Key Defender A Doubt: Predicted Leicester City Lineup vs Sheffield United

leicester city lineup

Leicester City will look to pick up their first win of the season when they travel to Bramall Lane this Saturday to take on Sheffield United.

Wilfried Ndidi’s second-half goal gave Leicester their second draw in two games last weekend. Brendan Rodgers’ side put in a gritty performance on their trip to Stamford Bridge as they returned with a point against Chelsea last weekend.

Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United picked up a point against Bournemouth on the opening matchday, before their win against Crystal Palace last weekend.

Leicester City Early Team News

The visitors have no new injury issues to worry about ahead of this game. Young Ben Chilwell missed last week’s game in London with a hip injury, and is doubtful for this weekend. But he should be ready for their trip to St James Park in the League Cup next week.

Defence

Kasper Schmeichel had a decent game against Chelsea, but was not tested too often. He will hope to have a similar game this weekend against the Blades. He has been protected well by both Jonny Evans and Caglar Soyuncu, who are the centre-back pairing.

The Turkish defender was the standout player for Leicester, and will look to keep the likes of Callum Robinson quiet in this tie.

Ricardo Pereira caused plenty of problems for the Chelsea backline last weekend, and could be the danger man this week as well. He will start at right-back while Christian Fuchs will cover for the absence of Chilwell at left-back.

Midfield

Ndidi’s goal earned them a point at the Bridge, but the Nigerian international was also effective at the heart of the midfield, often breaking up play and setting his side up on the counter. He will have to keep a close eye on John Lundstram and John Fleck who can run the game on their own.

Hamza Choudhury has been the preferred option in the midfield for Rodgers. He should add some mettle, while Youri Tielemans will add some creativity to the Leicester City lineup.

Summer signing Ayoze Perez is yet to score for Leicester this season. But his movement and energy on the right flank is what has made the Foxes a harder team to stop in attack. He will look to get the better of Jack O’Connell, who has been effective at the back for Sheffield United.

James Maddison, who set up Ndidi’s equaliser against Chelsea, should keep his place on the left flank.

Attack

Jamie Vardy has not been his usual self in the first two games for the Foxes. They will need him to fire on all cylinders to try and inflict Sheffield United’s first loss of the Premier League campaign.

Here is how they might line up:
