3 potential destinations for Bayern Munich midfield powerhouse- Opinion 1

The future of Renato Sanches is up in the air once again following his post-match outburst at the end of matchday 1 in the German Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich could muster only a single point from their 2-2 draw against Hertha Berlin, where Sanches was handed merely five minutes of game time.

While speaking to SPORT1 after the match, Sanches made it clear that he is keen to play regularly, something which seems unlikely to happen for him in the near future.

Ever since his move to the Allianz Arena in the summer of 2016, the Portuguese international hasn’t been able to cement his place in the senior side of the Bavarians.

During the 2017-18 season, he was shipped out on loan to the English outfit Swansea City but his spell with the Swans was far from convincing.

Last season, he mustered merely 4 starts in the German top flight for Bayern Munich and apparently, he is determined to leave their ranks this summer.

Although he is a player with a lot of potential, he needs to get his career back on the right track.

Here are three clubs which should try to sign him in the ongoing transfer window.

AC Milan

A move to Italian giants AC Milan could benefit all the parties involved. Currently, Marco Giampaolo has the likes of Franck Kessie, Rade Krunic and Giacomo Bonaventura on his books.

By bringing a young gun like Sanches into their arsenal, there will certainly be an enhancement in the competition for a place in Giampaolo’s starting lineup as he would add much-needed creativity into their midfield region.

Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has a knack to develop and shape young players and the Argentine would love to inject his tactical discipline and robust approach into the system of Sanches who has appeared lost since he burst on to the scene a few years ago.

The 22-year-old is an all-action midfielder who isn’t afraid of the challenges in front of him, which is why Simeone would love to have him. Also, Sanches could transform his career under the passionate guidance of Simeone.

Benfica

Sanches emerged through the youth ranks of Portuguese side Benfica and it was during his time therein that he attracted the attention of the European giants. He is certain to play regularly if he makes a switch back to his former club.

Benfica are undoubtedly a massive entity and they would welcome Sanches with open arms. However, signing him would be an expensive affair and a loan deal might facilitate his move to Lisbon.

Update: In latest reports, Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said that the club will not facilitate a move for the out of favour midfielder. But in football, one can never really predict the future.
