Leeds United kicked off their 2019-20 pre-season campaign with a bang as they convincingly defeated York City 5-0, and will now head to their next match against Guiseley later today.
This will be Leeds’ final game before they travel to Australia, where they will face old rivals Manchester United.
Manager Marcelo Bielsa played mostly players from last year’s starting XI in the first half of the game against York City, but switched things around in the 60th minute by bringing on some under-23 players.
Leeds scored four in the first half, with goals coming from Jack Harrison, two goals by Kemar Roofe, and one from Pablo Hernandez, before Adam Forshaw scored one more in the second half.
Quite a few players who did not take part in the York City game are expected to feature in the game against Guiseley.
Predicted Leeds United lineup vs Guiseley
Goalkeeper
Goalkeeper Kiko Casilla was the only player to play the entire 90 minutes of the game against York, but it is unlikely that he will feature once again against Guiseley. Bielsa could play 22-year-old Bailey Peacock-Farrell in place of Casilla in the game.
Defence
Captain Liam Cooper and Gaetano Berardi played in the heart of defence against York City, and against Guiseley, we could possibly see new signing Ben White, in place of Berardi.
We could see Stuart Dallas continue to play at right-back, as Luke Ayling might be a doubt due to injury, while Leif Davis could get a chance at left-back, ahead of Barry Douglas. The latter who started the game against York City.
Midfield
Alfie Mccalmont started in the base of midfield against York City and impressed for the Whites, but he could be replaced by Kalvin Phillips for the game against Guiseley, while Mateusz Klich could also return to the lineup in place of Adam Forshaw.
Pablo Hernandez played behind the striker against York, and he too, had a great game. We could maybe see Bielsa give Tyler Roberts an opportunity behind the striker.
Attack
We did not see new signing Helder Costa against York City, but he is set to play for the first time in a Leeds shirt against Guiseley, while Ezgjan Alioski could also play.
Leeds could employ a fluid formation where the three players behind the striker could switch flanks constantly.
Kemar Roofe scored a brace against York City and he could start the game as the furthest player for Leeds against Guiseley.
Also keep an eye on Liam McCarron, who could get a few minutes after impressing against York City.
