Everton closing in on a €40million move for goal-scoring ace: Pros and cons of signing him

moise kean

Everton are close to securing a move for Juventus forward Moise Kean, as per reports.

Juventus are demanding a fee of €40 million for Kean that Everton are willing to match, but the insertion of a buy-back clause could delay matters as per Goal.com’s Romeo Agresti (cited by Football Italia).

Kean had a breakthrough season with Juventus and managed seven goals in 17 appearances for the Turin based outfit. Everton, on the other hand, missed a goal-scoring forward last season, so Kean could be a good option for them.

Let’s look at the pros and cons of signing the Bianconeri centre-forward Kean.

PROS

The teenager is a versatile player but is best suited to a centre-forward role. His technique and pace mean he can be used as a winger as well.

Kean managed 1.6 shots per game across all competitions last season, so he is very direct when he gets the ball in the final third.

The Italian is a decent passer of the ball, and can use his dribbling to good effect as well. Kean averaged a pass success of 80.7% and recorded 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes last season.

His decision-making and ability to stretch teams on the counter will suit the Toffees next season, and considering he is a prolific striker, Everton will benefit from his presence on the pitch.

Marco Silva’s side predominantly depended on their wingers and attacking midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson for goals last season, and need a 15-goal striker to finish higher up the table next season.

CONS

Kean played under 700 minutes in the Serie A last season, and is far from a complete player as he doesn’t have the experience of playing regularly in the top flight.

Even though Kean stands in at 6ft tall, his aerial prowess on the pitch also remains subpar. He managed a poor 0.5 aerial duels won per game across all competitions last term.

The 19-year-old’s work ethic and defensive contribution also needs to improve, especially in the Premier League. However, considering he is still very young, working with someone like Silva could potentially help him become a more active player off the ball.
