New signing at the back, Brewster up top: Predicted Liverpool lineup vs Tranmere Rovers

After a season that most Liverpool fans will remember for the rest of their lives, the Reds are already getting ready for the upcoming campaign.

With less than a month left for the new season to start, Liverpool will now be busy with a few pre-season games that will help get them in shape to fight for silverware again.

Liverpool stars are already back on the Merseyside, training hard and getting ready for the challenges that lie ahead.

The European champions will play Tranmere Rovers in their first pre-season game on Thursday.

Liverpool Team News

Jurgen Klopp will be without the likes of Roberto Firmino and Alisson Becker, who are yet to return to training after their Copa America triumph.

Liverpool will also miss Sadio Mane, who is still active in the AFCON and Mohamed Salah, who only recently got knocked out of the competition.

Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri are currently nursing injuries and will miss this game against The Whites.

Klopp might be tempted to use a few of his youngsters in this game. Here is the predicted lineup he might field for this clash at Prenton Park:

Predicted Liverpool lineup vs Tranmere (4-3-3)

Defence

With Caoimhin Kelleher also injured and Alisson unavailable, Belgian star Mignolet is the best choice for Klopp under the bar for this game. Nathaniel Clyne still has a year left on his current deal at Anfield. He should be given a chance in this game to show if he has enough to fight for a place in the first team next season.

Clyne is expected to start at right-back while Joel Matip is expected to start as the senior member in the backline for this game. He could be partnered with Liverpool’s new signing Sepp van den Berg, who will play in Liverpool colours for the first time.

Andy Robertson and James Milner are the only options at left-back for Klopp at the moment and the duo might play a half each in this game.

Midfield

Fabinho was not a part of the Brazil squad that lifted the Copa America trophy this summer.

He will want a proper pre-season under his belt and should start in the no.6 role against Rovers. Adam Lallana is fit and raring to go and will get a chance to fight for his place in the midfield.

Young Cutis Jones has been impressive in training so far and could complete the midfield for the Reds. He, however, must fend of competition from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is now fit and ready to take his place in the middle of the park

Attack

Harry Wilson has done everything he could out on loan last season and deserves a chance in the first team. The 22-year old could play on one wing while Divock Origi could get a few minutes in this game, playing on the other wing.

With no senior striker available at the moment, Klopp can finally give the Liverpool fans a hint at what Rhian Brewster brings to the squad. The 19-year old was unlucky with an injury last season and will want to prove his worth in this tie.
