Bayern Munich have reinvigorated their efforts to sign Chelsea sensation Callum Hudson-Odoi who is entering the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, the Bavarians will return with a better offer of £45m, a £10m increase on the proposal they had come up with during the January transfer window.
The 18-year-old earned a promotion to the Blues’ senior side at the dawn of the year and showed no signs of a struggle adjusting with the big boys.
He managed 5 goals and a similar number of assists in 24 appearances across all competitions in the second half of the season.
Why Chelsea should block this move?
Hudson-Odoi primarily features on the right-wing and possesses the ability to switch to either flank or in a number 10 role in case the manager requires him.
His versatility and maturity for an 18-year-old is exemplary and is one of the major reasons he has got two of the biggest clubs in Europe fighting for his signature.
The Englishman boasts excellent pace and dribbling skills in his locker. His passing-range especially his crossing prowess, ability to link up with teammates and vision to create goal-scoring opportunities are some of his many attributes that have caught the eye of one too many people in the footballing world.
The English International averaged a pass success rate of 86% with 1.2 dribbles, 0.6 crosses, 0.4 long balls and 0.9 key passes per game across all competitions last term.
The 18-year-old’s off the ball movement, athleticism to make constant runs behind the opposition back-line and shooting ability are a testament to his great potential.
However, for someone who stands at 6ft, his aerial ability raises some serious concerns.
The youngster’s defensive contribution over the course of 90 minutes also remains subpar, but this is something that will improve as he moves forward in his journey as a footballer.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard also stressed on the importance of the 18-year-old to his plans at the Bridge and sees him as a long-term star for the Pensioners.
His availability, especially for the upcoming season, is significant to the London based outfit taking into account the Blues’ current transfer ban and the transfer of their biggest star Eden Hazard to Real Madrid.
With veterans in Willian and Pedro providing enough experience in the dressing room, the young legs of Christian Pulisic and Hudson-Odoi will be equally important in the next chapter for Chelsea as they get ready to start their post-Hazard era under the leadership of another Blues legend, Frank Lampard.
