Rafa Benitez will leave Newcastle United when his contract expires at the end of the month, and his departure could unsettle a few players at the club.
A group of well-established stars at St. James Park are contemplating their future at the club after the club failed to reach an agreement with Benitez, according to a report from The Sun.
The list includes names like Fabian Schar, Martin Dubravka, and their prolific attacker Ayoze Perez.
Perez is coming on the back of a successful season with the Magpies where he finished the season as the club’s top scorer, plundering 13 goals across all competitions.
The Spanish striker, who has two years left on his contract at St. James Park, has developed well at Tyneside, and here are three clubs who should target Perez.
West Ham United
The Hammers direly need a striker to progress further next season. While Lucas Perez has left the club, Andy Carroll will depart as soon as his contract expires come July.
Marko Arnautovic was close to leaving the club when an offer from China came in during the January transfer window, and even though he signed an extension, it remains to be seen when his future will be considering he is never far from a change of heart.
Perez has grown steadily, and would be a pretty good addition to the club as he can not only play up top and contribute to the build-up play, but is also versatile enough to play on either wing.
Wolves
Wolves enjoyed an excellent season in the Premier League and will look to climb further up the table next season.
Having qualified for Europe, must move in for a new striker in order to increase their squad depth and avoid a Burnley from last season.
Perez could be the man to sail the Wolves ship forward as he seems primed to play in Europe. The Spaniard would also offer something different from Raul Jimenez, who is a different sort of forward.
Tottenham Hotspur
The Champions League finalists aren’t holding back and have expressed their intentions of spending large in the transfer market to aid their manager Mauricio Pochettino next season.
Tottenham haven’t spent a single dime for over 500 days, and with the departure of their backup striker Fernando Llorente and the unimpressive Vincent Janssen on the cards, Pochettino needs another forward.
Solid technically, and pretty clinical in front of goal, Perez would be a good backup or can even play alongside Harry Kane if needed.
