Eibar midfielder Joan Jordan has emerged as a target for West Ham United who are keen to bolster their ranks for the upcoming season.
Under the tutelage of Manuel Pellegrini, the Hammers could only muster a tenth place finish in the Premier League despite the handful number of signings which the Chilean made last summer.
It goes without saying that the London based outfit have to improve their performances to a substantial extent to challenge for silverware and a place in the Europa League and the Sun has reported that they have placed Jordan on their radar.
However, it would not be easy for the Hammers to acquire his signature as Arsenal, Valencia, Villareal and Sevilla are also interested in his services.
Jordan has just one year left on his current contract with Eibar and a transfer fee of £13.25million is expected to be enough to prise him out of the Ipurua Municipal Stadium. From a financial point of view, this does not seem to be a move which will cause too much headache for the London based outfit.
Joan Jordan: Profile
Jordan emerged through the youth ranks of Espanyol and steadily progressed to make it to their senior side. After a loan spell at Valladolid, he switched to Eibar in the summer of 2017 and has been a handy asset for the Spanish outfit since then.
Operating in a number of positions in the midfield sector, the 24-year-old scored 4 goals and also garnered 4 assists in 36 La Liga appearances last season.
Why will he be a good signing for West Ham United?
Jordan is more than capable of being the engine room for West Ham United next season alongside Declan Rice, if they manage to sign him. He is an astute passer of the ball and his inventive approach will sit well with Pellegrini’s preference for a free-flowing brand of football.
He has the calibre of dictating the tempo of the game from the middle of the park and he gets forward on a regular basis to join in the attack. Besides, he is not shy to test the goalkeeper from outside the box, something which can come in handy in tight games in the league.
He is calm and composed when on the ball and does not shy away from performing his defensive duties as well. For £13.25million, he could prove to be a shrewd signing for West Ham United.
