French sensation, Kylian Mbappe, who first burst onto the scene in the 2016/17 season with AS Monaco recently won his first Ligue 1 Player of the year award with Paris Saint-Germain. It was at the ceremony where he first revealed his intentions of possibly taking up a new challenge and leaving the club.
According to a report from The Sun, Mbappe has handed in a transfer request at PSG putting many big clubs around Europe on red alert. The Parisians’ boss Thomas Tuchel, when asked about Mbappe’s comments at the ceremony, reiterated his desire to retain the player but refrained from ruling out a possible exit.
Let’s take a look at three possible destinations where the 20-year-old French superstar could end up before the next season kicks-off in August.
Real Madrid
Los Blancos will lead the line for the signature of the PSG star as part of their overhaul plans for the summer. Gareth Bale who has been under scrutiny in the Spanish capital is speculated to leave the club and Mbappe could fill in his role at right-wing.
Madrid look fairly serious in the transfer window after a nightmare season having already made two big signings in Luka Jovic and Eder Militao while we are still in the first week of June. A massive coup for the 20-year-old could be on the cards as club president Florentino Perez and manager Zinedine Zidane plan to restore the glory days back at Santiago Bernabeu. Eden Hazard and Kylian Mbappe on the wings with Luka Jovic leading the line will indeed be an attack of epic proportions.
Barcelona
The Blaugrana club is looking for a long-term Luis Suarez replacement and who better than the 20-year-old Mbappe who has proven himself on the biggest stage scoring goals in abundance across competitions like the World Cup and Champions League. On the domestic front, the French international finished the season as the top scorer in Ligue 1 with 33 goals to his name.
With Lionel Messi by his side, the PSG forward could take his game to the next level, which is indeed a scary prospect for defenders all over the world. Mbappe also stands a chance to register his name in the long list of famous strikers to play at Camp Nou following in the footsteps of Samuel Etoó, David Villa, Luis Suarez and many others.
Manchester City
The reigning English Champions are one of the few clubs in Europe who could afford the young World Cup winner. This could be Mbappe’s last chance to play at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola, another great of the game, as he enters into the penultimate year of his City contract.
With Sergio Aguero ageing and setting his sights on a move to Independiente after his contract expires and Leroy Sane linked with a move to Bayern Munich, Mbappe could become the new face of the Sky Blues attack for years to come.
