Manchester United target hints at exit: Should Ole make a move for him?

Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose has addressed rumours regarding his future at the club and has subsequently alerted a number of clubs due to the same.

Premier League giants Manchester United, who had previously expressed their interest in the England left-back, might finally make a move this summer.

The 28-year-old, who will be 29 before the next season kicks-off in August, is coming on the back of a solid season with the Lilywhites.

Rose played a vital role in both of Spurs’ top four finish in the Premier League and their run to the Champions League final, which was the first Champions League final for the north London club in their 137-old long history.

Should United make a move?

Rose is a versatile player who predominantly features as a left-back but can also slot into midfield as he did on a number of occasions last season allowing Spurs boss Pochettino to be more flexible in his approach.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would like a player with Rose’s flexibility seeing the Norweigan’s habit of modifying his formations in accordance with the opposition’s style of play.

The left-footed player is a typical modern-day fullback who marauds up and down the wing contributing in both the defensive and offensive phase of play.

His dribbling and passing ability remain a constant threat to the opposition in the attacking phase of the game. Rose managed an average of 77.1 % pass success rate and 1.3 dribbles per 90 minutes.

Other than his offensive prowess, the full-back’s defensive contribution should not be overlooked by any means. He averaged 0.9 clearances and 1.7 tackles per game which highlights his strength and confidence while performing his duties.

However, his anticipation skills might require some work on the training ground with the player having managed 0.8 interceptions per game last season.

But we have doubts over the feasibility of the move given Daniel Levy’s reputation of being a rigid negotiator. United have Luke Shaw who has been one of their best players in recent times and Rose is unlikely to settle for a bench role at this stage of his career.

Rose is unlikely to come for a cut-price fee as well and spending a decent amount of transfer budget on a soon to be 29-year-old in a summer where United have actively pursued targets of a certain age seems far-fetched and they will be better suited to scouting players who can take up a role of that of Shaw’s deputy and aim for the long-term.
