Liverpool had a fantastic 2018-19 season, but to sustain that momentum, they will need to add some fresh faces to the squad to keep the competition alive between players at the club.

The Reds have been linked with a move for young winger Federico Chiesa, as per Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb.

Recent reports suggested that Serie A champions Juventus have agreed personal terms with the Fiorentina player, but there has been no confirmation from the player or the club yet.

Chiesa is also being pursued by another Italian club, Inter Milan.

Federico Chiesa – Profile

The 21-year-old Italian joined Fiorentina in 2007 and came through the youth ranks at the club before making his senior debut back in the 2016-17 season.

Since then, he has been a constant fixture in the Fiorentina side, racking over a 100 games in his first three seasons. In the 2018-19 season, Chiesa featured in 41 games in all competitions for Fiorentina, scoring 12 goals and assisting 9 times in the season, ending the season as the club’s top-scorer.

The young winger has also made his national team debut, featuring 12 times since for the Italian national team after making his debut in 2018.

While speaking to reporters this past week, Chiesa acknowledged the interest that clubs have shown him: “The interest of certain clubs makes me happy. How do I handle these offers?

“I put my cell on airplane mode. So far I have yet to speak to anyone at the club. The announcement that was posted. I repeat, I didn’t talk to anyone at the club,” Chiesa said.

Would Chiesa be a good fit under Klopp?

Chiesa is a willing and strong runner with the ball, often drifting inwards towards central areas from his right flank.

The young Italian is a good dribbler of the ball and also has the added quality of scoring consistently.

The 21-year-old likes to take on defenders with his pace and direct running, while he has also shown his ability in playing accurate through balls to his teammates.

While he has primarily played as a right winger, Chiesa can also play on the opposite wing as well as a central striker or attacking midfielder.

Chiesa could be a deadly backup to Salah in the Liverpool team, while he also has the energy and dribbling ability to open stubborn defences, so he would be a good addition to Liverpool.
