Leicester City are yet to agree on a deal with Luton Town in order to lure the latter’s dazzling full-back James Justin to the King Power Stadium this summer.

Leicester City are believed to be confident of signing him, although the prospective transfer is still in the process of negotiation as per Leicester Mercury. Justin has also attracted the attention of Nottingham Forest this summer.

The Tricky Trees have reportedly offered £7.5million to acquire Justin’s services. Besides, Scottish giants, Celtic are also monitoring him from close quarters and it goes without saying that Leicester City need to accelerate their pursuit.

Leicester finished ninth in the standings last season and they will definitely aim to improve and challenge for a Europa League spot under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers. And a number of areas need to be fortified to build a squad which will be capable of challenging for that.

James Justin: Profile

Having emerged through the youth ranks of the Hatters, Justin made his breakthrough into their senior side in the 2016-17 season. Last campaign was a productive one for him and it isn’t surprising to see big clubs lining up for him.

The right-back mustered 43 appearances in League One and helped Luton Town in clinching the league title. He also represented his employers in the FA Cup and the League Cup putting in impressive shifts.

He was named in the League One Team of the Season 2018-19 and despite being a 21-year-old, he has shown immense maturity and calibre.

Why Leicester City need to sign him

Danny Simpson has been released by Leicester City and Daniel Amartey is yet to feature for the club after he suffered an ankle injury back in October, which implies that Rodgers’ side are short in numbers at the back.

Ricardo Pereira might be available on the books of the former Celtic manager but they need someone to provide competition to Pereira for a place in the starting line up. So, a promising player like Justin would be invaluable in that regard.

Justin is a modern-day full-back with the required pace and the ability to make quick transitions from defence to attack. His versatility is also an added bonus as the player can play in an advanced position as well

Rodgers is one of the ever-increasing Premier League managers who doesn’t shy away from handing first-team opportunities to the youth and Justin can be reassured of gametime if and when the Foxes complete the deal in the coming weeks.
