Opinion: 3 Players Wolves Should Target On A Free Transfer Including This Arsenal Star

Wolves had an impressive return to the English top flight as they finished seventh in the Premier League and will play in the Europa League.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side had a clear gameplan, and more often than not they executed that well to pick up an impressive 57 points last season.

Although Wolves have decent money to spend, we take a look at three players they should target on a free transfer.

Here are three free agents Wolves should target:

Daniel Sturridge

Sturridge is still only 29, and had an injury-free campaign last season with Liverpool. The forward will leave when his contract expires, and seeing he can still deliver, Wolves should attempt signing him as his arrival for a free transfer would help them strengthen other areas of the pitch as well.

The English International is a finisher, and would be a good player to have on the transition owing to his pace and dribbling ability.

Sturridge could complement Raul Jimenez or Diogo Jota upfront or can fill in for either. The 29-year-old also boasts a plethora of European experience, which might come in handy for the club.

Nuno will have to be wary of the Englishman’s injury record, though, and will have to use him smartly.

Nacho Monreal

The Spanish International is a versatile player who primarily features as a left-back and can also fill in at centre-back. This would allow Nuno to be more flexible with his approach, as he can go with three at the back or a back four depending upon the opposition, and rest players at the same time.

Monreal’s fitness levels are impressive for a 33-year old, as he managed 36 appearances for Arsenal last season in all competitions.

The Spaniard, despite his age, can still produce the goods and is also an experienced campaigner.

Samir Nasri

The former Manchester City midfielder joined West Ham United during the winter transfer window, and did have a few impressive performances, most notably against his former club Arsenal.

Nasri made just 6 appearances for the Hammers during an injury-stricken period and is on the cusp of being a free agent come July.

Nuno can use Nasri’s flexibility and much-needed experience in a central role, and Nasri can provide the creative spark if needed as well.

Alongside players like Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves, the former Arsenal man can provide the touch of class that he is renowned for, thogh he needs to be more consistent.

Nasri’s inconsistency is his biggest enemy. But considering he is 32, perhaps he is ready for one last push after a tumultuous year and a half.
