Tottenham Hotspur have had yet another season where they looked impressive at the start but faltered towards the end. But, with the investment that they have made over the last few seasons, Mauricio Pochettino should be commended for the job he’s done at the north London club.

But they will need to sign a few players to continue to challenge at the top of the Premier League and in Europe, and it seems that they have already shortlisted a few players to sign.

We reported some time back about Spurs pursuing Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek, and now they have been linked with a move for Roma’s Nicolò Zaniolo.

The 19-year-old is a target for Spurs in the summer, as are a few other Roma stars after the Italian club failed to finish in a Champions League spot in Serie A.

Would Zaniolo be a good fit for Pochettino?

Zaniolo, who was signed by Roma from Inter Milan last summer, has impressed for the club this season which has resulted in several top clubs like Tottenham and Bayern Munich showing interest in his signature.

The 6’3″ player is incredibly quick and has an eye for goal, having scored 6 times for Roma since making his debut in September, and also registered 2 assists. Zaniolo is a player who can play in multiple positions, having featured as an attacking midfielder, a false 9, as well as a right-sided attacking midfielder for Roma, this season. Technically sound and frighteningly quick, Zaniolo has made a big impression in Serie A this season and is touted to be a star in the future.

Although not the finished product, he can be a useful player for Spurs with his driving runs and eye for goal. Strong on the ball, Zaniolo would feel at home in the physical and quick nature of the Premier League. His versatility and potential could be two good reasons why Spurs and Pochettino will want to sign the player, with the Argentinian manager known to love working with young players.

A €50 million price tag was reported for the 19-year-old last month, but with Roma not securing a Champions League spot, they may have to reduce the asking price for the talented midfielder.
