Manchester United linked with out of favour Real Madrid superstar: Should Ole make a move?

With the 2018/19 season nearing its completion, a number of European clubs will step on the transfer market battleground as they look to rebuild in the upcoming transfer window. One such club will be Manchester United who will look to revamp certain areas in order to bring the glory days back to Old Trafford.

With speculation rising in the Spanish capital regarding the future of Gareth Bale, Manchester United, who have been on the lookout for a right winger for quite some time can move in for the Welsh International.

According to a report by Manchester Evening News, Gareth Bale, who was left out of the Real Madrid squad for the second successive time this week, has his days numbered in the capital club and could well be on his way to Manchester United.

The 29-year-old, soon to be 30, has spent six years at Santiago Bernabeu winning everything with Real Madrid but might have to take a different course of action in the near future with Zidane explicitly stating that the Welshman is not in his plans.

Should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer move in for the Welshman?

Manchester United have a history of splashing money in the transfer market but for the last couple of seasons, those transfers seem to have been more from a business point of view rather than from a long term perspective. A move for Gareth Bale seems more likely to end up in the former category.

The Welshman will be 30 years old before the new season kicks off in August and a player like Gareth Bale won’t come cheap, from his wages to transfer fee it will cost Manchester United a fortune to bring the Los Blancos superstar to Old Trafford.

The cons of this transfer doesn’t end here; the Welshman is inordinately injury-prone and to play in England which has the busiest of schedules in all of Europe, it will be more of a challenge for the ageing Bale to stay fit rather than perform on the pitch.

The cons certainly outweigh the pros in this particular scenario but there are certain positives if the Welshman does end up at Old Trafford come August. Bale can fill in the missing piece for the Red Devils in their final third as he brings with him a plethora of pace, aerial prowess and a good finisher never hurt anyone.

The 29-year-old can be versatile in terms of his position and under a manager like Ole who likes to experiment with his formations in accordance with the opposition, a player like Gareth Bale can come in handy on numerous occasions.

But the big question which arises here; Is Gareth Bale the only option available to Manchester United? Certainly NO, with youngsters like Jadon Sancho rising up the ranks in Europe, a move for Bale seems more likely to fail than bring success to a club which is looking to rebuild for the future.
