22 goals and 4 assists: Leicester City’s Latest Target Can Be A Canny Acquisition

Since former Liverpool and Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers took over at Leicester City, the Foxes have seen quite a turnaround in fortunes, shooting up the table to a top 10 position. Rodgers has been praised for the way he’s handled the team, with even Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola complimenting Rodgers and saying that the team would do very well next season.

One player that Rodgers has set his sights on, reportedly, to take them further up the table next season is 22-year-old attacking player Jarrod Bowen. The Hull City forward has had a phenomenal year, scoring 22 goals and 4 assists in the Championship. Bowen followed up with this year’s fantastic performance after scoring 15 goals in all competitions in the 2017-18 season.

The right-sided attacker was signed by Hull City from Hereford in 2014, making a few appearances in Hull’s 2016-17 Premier League season before establishing himself as a first-team star in last year’s campaign.

It seems that Hull are resigned to losing him as the club’s manager Nigel Adkins recently revealed that there will be a few clubs in for the 22-year-old: “You can talk about Jarrod, who’s had a couple of good years now. He’ll be well courted in the summer. I’m sure someone will want to come and take him.”

Reports suggest that a £15 million bid by Leicester City could ensure that Bowen is with the Foxes next season, but they will have to fight off competition from Cardiff City, who are also rumoured to be interested in him.

Will Bowen be a good signing for Rodgers?

A wide player who is lightning-quick and has an eye for goal, Bowen is a player who likes to drift inside from wide positions to take shots on goal. The 22-year-old has also played further forward as a striker, using his pace and hard-working attitude to be a constant thorn to opposition defences.

Bowen is a player who likes to take on defenders, while also possessing great finishing skills, which translated to 22 goals this season, all in the league. Rachid Ghezzal, Marc Albrighton, Demarai Gray have been Leicester’s wingers this season, while promising young player James Maddison has also played on the wide left on a few occasions this season.

Ghezzal, in truth, has failed to impress and in theory, Leicester are still searching for players who could, in a way, help make up the number of goals and assists which the Foxes lost when Riyad Mahrez left the club.

Bowen will offer pace and directness, which has been a key trait of Leicester City over the last few seasons and would be a good addition at the price that he is likely to be available for.
