Manchester City are set to offload Fabian Delph this summer for a fee of £15 million, it has been claimed.
According to the Sun, Manchester City are looking for suitors for midfielder Fabian Delph.
The English international’s current contract with the club expires at the end of next season, and the report claims Delph is looking for a fresh challenge.
As a result, the Premier League champions are keen to offload Delph in the ongoing transfer window. But, they are looking for at least £15 million for his services.
We take a look at three clubs who should make a move for Delph this summer.
Norwich City
Norwich City boss Daniel Farke is already looking to add to his midfield options this summer, after his side’s promotion to the English top flight. Delph, in that regard, could be an excellent option.
The 29-year-old can offer more urgency to the Norwich midfield and his aggression could suit Farke’s tactical philosophy at the Carrow Road. Furthermore, the Canaries have appeared over-reliant on the services of Tom Trybull in the holding midfield role, especially with Alexander Tettey nearing the final phase of his career.
Delph’s high defensive work-rate means that the ex-Bremen midfielder will receive additional defensive support – making Norwich much more solid in the midfield department.
What makes Delph an even more appealing target for Norwich is his vast experience in Premier League that might prove to be handy for the newly promoted outfit in their return to the English top flight.
Watford
It’s probably fair to say that Watford have one of the balanced midfield units in the Premier League. But they have over-relied on the services of both Abdoulaye Doucoure and Etienne Capoue in recent seasons. And this is combined with the injury issues of players like Tom Cleverly and Domingos Quina.
Hence, they will definitely welcome the arrival of a new midfielder – making Delph a viable option for the Hornets. The experienced midfielder is known for his industry and work-ethic, which goes hand in hand with Javi Gracia’s tactical setup.
Additionally, Delph’s versatility can also prove to be useful for Gracia, who has had to deal with injuries to his key players in the full-back department.
Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace are in definite need of reinforcements in midfield this summer, given their lack of depth in the said department.
The Eagles have Luka Milivojevic, Cheikhou Kouyate and James McArthur as their only bonafide central midfield options at the moment.
The addition of someone like Delph would offer Palace more aggression and versatility in midfield. Considering Palace will have bigger ambitions next season, they can’t rely on their current crop of midfielders to help them climb higher up the table.
