Bale set to be sold: Manchester United among clubs who should make a move for him

real madrid lineup

Gareth Bale has been deemed surplus to requirements by Zinedine Zidane, it has been claimed.

According to Marca, the Welshman is not included in Zidane’s plans as he aims to kickstart a new era at the Santiago Bernabeu next season.

This could serve as a huge boost for Premier League clubs and in this article, we will discuss three teams who should make a move for the former Tottenham star in the summer.

Manchester United

It’s probably fair to say that Manchester United have one of the most below-par attacking units among the Premier League top six at the moment. Despite boasting the services of several world-class attackers, the Red Devils have struggled with lack of form and injuries to their star players for a few seasons now.

Alexis Sanchez has struggled to settle into life at United while Juan Mata has been linked with a move away from the club. Therefore, Bale, who has been linked with the Old Trafford outfit, could be a viable target for Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer, who is poised to undergo a massive squad overhaul in the summer.

The Welshman could revamp the United attack with his pace and dynamism while his previous exposure in the Premier League will help him settle into life at Old Trafford.

Tottenham Hotspur

A return to Tottenham Hotspur is always on the cards for Bale. The 29-year-old will certainly add more strength to the Spurs attack, who have, time and again, impressed under the tutelage of Mauricio Pochettino despite a conservative approach off the pitch.

This season, however, the Argentine has struggled with injuries to star players like Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Erik Lamela. Thus, the addition of Bale could be even more significant.

The Real Madrid star can be deployed as the wide-attacker, along with Heung Min-Son in a classic 4-2-3-1 shape, with Christian Eriksen operating in the double-pivot. Alternatively, Bale can also feature as a secondary striker, which could be useful in a 4-4-2 setup or even a 3-4-1-2.

There will, of course, be the issue of a possible transfer fee which could well be outside the purview of a normal Daniel Levy negotiation, but the player has previously been linked with a return and with the open friction between Zidane and Bale, there might well be further twists in this transfer saga.

Paris Saint-Germain

With star striker Edinson Cavani looking likely to leave the club in the summer, PSG will welcome the addition of a new attacker, who can partner Kylian Mbappe next season.

Bale, in that regard, could be a perfect option given his experience in top-flight football as well as the Champions League. Although the Welshman may not be a like for like replacement for Cavani, his pace and agility will make PSG much more dynamic in attack.

And the potential attacking trio of Mbappe, Neymar and Bale might just be enough for PSG to secure a European trophy next season.
