19-Goal Striker Could Leave Arsenal In The Summer

arsenal team

Arsenal appointed Unai Emery at the start of the 2018/19 campaign when their long-standing manager Arsene Wenger finally bid adieu to the Emirates after 22 long years.

Whether the Spaniard’s first season in charge of the Gunners is a success or not can’t be determined just yet with Arsenal still to play a Europa League final later in the month. Although finishing trophyless and out of the top four from a seemingly comfortable position doesn’t shed a good light on Emery’s tenure in north London so far.

Gunners, like always, won’t have a large budget to splash in the summer transfer window but certain incomings and outgoings are bound to take place as the Spaniard looks to bolster his squad for next season.

Let’s take a look at the three players who can/will leave Emirates this summer.

Danny Welbeck

Welbeck rose through Manchester United ranks as a youngster but left Manchester United for rivals Arsenal back in the summer of 2014. His Arsenal career never really took off as the Englishman phased out year by year at Emirates.

With meagre contributions for four years in a row now, the 28-year-old was bound to leave north London in the summer. Welbeck won’t find any difficulty finding another club in England with many top-flight clubs keen to offer him a contract.

The Englishman will leave as a free agent come 1st July is linked with a move to Crystal Palace for the time being.

Stephan Lichtsteiner

The Swiss international joined Arsenal from Juventus after a successful 7-year stint with the Italian giants. The 35-year-old arrived in North London for a free transfer on a year-long contract with the Gunners.

With age catching to him, Lichtsteiner has dipped in both his pace and performances on the pitch. It won’t come as a surprise if Arsenal doesn’t renew Lichtsteiner’s contract and he becomes a free agent.

Alexandre Lacazette

Lacazette, after a successful season individually, has garnered interest from all around Europe especially from the likes of Atletico Madrid and Barcelona. According to a report from Sun, the Frenchman could exit the north London club if Arsenal loses the Europa League final against their local rivals Chelsea.

The 27-year-old, soon to be 28, has 32 goal contributions netting the ball on 19 occasions across all competitions. The Frenchman made the move from Lyon to north London two years back and has been a key figure at the Emirates. A lot will be uncovered regarding Lacazette’s transfer status in the upcoming months.
