Manchester United are set to undergo a massive squad overhaul in the summer; it has been claimed.
According to Telegraph, the Red Devils coach Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer to keen to reshape the entire squad and it is believed that the Norwegian wants at least five new faces when the window reopens in July.
Here are the players that could and should move to Old Trafford this summer.
Milan Skriniar
Manchester United have lacked the services of a bonafide leader at the back ever since the departure of Nemanja Vidic. Also, Eric Bailly has struggled with lack of consistency while the likes of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo have had their own share of problems with injuries.
As a result, Victor Lindelof has appeared as the only reliable option for United this season, thus accentuating the need for a new defender in the summer. Milan Skriniar, in that regard, could be an excellent choice as the Inter Milan centre-back is equipped with the right set of qualities that could help him thrive at Old Trafford.
For one, the Slovakian international is an excellent ball-playing defender, which is coupled with his remarkable anticipation. That means he will not only be able to help United in their build-up from the back but also make them much more aggressive in closing out the opposition.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka
With veteran defender Antonio Valencia leaving the club at the end of the season and Ashley Young turning 34 before the start of next season, Manchester United desperately need to sign a right-back in the summer.
This is where Aaron Wan-Bissaka could come into the fray, having fared brilliantly with Crystal Palace throughout the course of this campaign. In fact, Bissaka has been one of Premier League’s rising stars this season, with his excellent tackling and aggression raising a lot of eyebrows.
Indeed, Wan-Bissaka is known for the defensive solidity he offers in the right-back position, and at the age of 21, he could be turn out to be an excellent long-term investment for the Red Devils.
Paulo Dybala
Another key issue Solskjaer needs to address this summer is the lack of a versatile forward, especially with Alexis Sanchez struggling to impress at Old Trafford.
And while Marcus Rashford has emerged as the focal point of the United attack under Solskjaer, the Norwegian will surely be delighted with the addition of someone like Paulo Dybala.
The Argentine can boost United’s creativity in the final third, and the fact that he can play anywhere across the attacking department makes him an appealing option for the Red Devils.
Unlike other top attackers in the world, Dybala hasn’t been able to produce jaw-dropping numbers at Juventus this season, but his immaculate control on the ball coupled with his neat footwork can surely add more trickery into the United attack next season.
Saul Niguez
According to latest reports, Ander Herrera is considering a summer switch to PSG while Paul Pogba has also been linked with a move to Real Madrid, meaning the addition of at least one quality midfielder could be imperative for Manchester United this summer.
Saul Niguez, for one, has been eyed as a potential candidate by Solskjaer and we believe that the Spaniard can be an ideal replacement for his compatriot Herrera. The Atletico Madrid midfielder is known for his excellent work ethic and ability to cover the ground for his team.
But unlike Herrera, the 24-year-old loves to make driving runs into the final third and take on defenders, which could certainly benefit United in terms of their overall chance creation. However, the Spaniard could reportedly cost around €150 million.
Youri Tielemans
Perhaps the most logical and gettable option in this list, Manchester United need to make a permanent for Youri Tielemans, who has impressed with his consistent performances in the Premier League since joining Leicester City on loan in January.
With Nemanja Matic struggling with consistency in the past 12 months or so, Tielemans can offer more stability in midfield with his remarkable passing and excellent composure on the ball. He is also quite a physically challenging midfielder, who isn’t shy in committing himself in a challenge.
Another feature of his game is that he has a strong right-foot, which makes him a threat from long range. Therefore, the Belgian international is certainly an all-round talent, who could provide Solskjaer with more options in midfield next season.
