Rangers take on Aberdeen at the Pittodrie Stadium on Sunday in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup, and it promises to be an exciting clash.

The Gers are in a rich vein of form at the moment, having won their last three games in all competitions. In the process, they have scored 14 goals and have conceded none.

These two sides have locked horns four times this season, and there have been five red cards, so games we expect another heated affair between the two.

For Steven Gerrard’s side, the Scottish Cup is the best chance of bagging silverware this season and they will look for a bit of revenge as Aberdeen knocked them out of the Scottish League Cup in October.

Rangers Team News

Gerrard has made it clear that Scott Arfield and Andy Halliday are doubtful for the fixture. Graham Dorrans is back in training but might not feature.

Jamie Murphy remains out owing to his cruciate ligament injury, while Eros Grezda is making his recovery from an ankle injury.

Predicted Rangers Lineup vs Aberdeen (4-1-4-1)

Defence

Allan McGregor has been superb between the sticks lately and his performances have been inspiring. He is set to start in goal.

Against a good Aberdeen side, Gerrard might stick to the central defensive partnership of Joe Worrall and Connor Goldson.

Both Worrall and Goldson have been resilient at the back and have forged a good understanding at the heart of the defence.

James Tavernier and Borna Barisic might be deployed as the full-backs. Tavernier has an impressive 11 assists in the league this season, and he’ll look to replicate his impress form in the cup as well.

Midfield

Ryan Jack might start in the midfield to protect the defence. His ability to recycle the ball and add more control to the team will be key against Aberdeen.

Glen Kamara and Ross McCrorie might start slightly ahead of Jack in the Rangers lineup.

Ryan Kent and Daniel Candeias are likely to start on the flanks. They have been in decent touch of late, and will aim to make their presence felt once again.

Attack

Alfredo Morelos has notched up 26 goals in 35 games across all competitions for the Light Blues, and has been absolutely dazzling to watch. He is expected to lead the line against Derek McInnes’ side, but he’ll have to keep his temper in check.
