Manchester United are likely to undergo a big change ahead of next season, and are targeting three players, including Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The Red Devils currently have Ashley Young, Antonio, and Diego Dalot as options to use in the right-back role, but Wan-Bissaka, who has had a meteoric rise under Roy Hodgson this season, is being seen as the ideal long term solution.
According to TalkSPORT, Palace are likely to demand £40 million for Wan-Bissaka.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka: Player Profile
Wan-Bissaka has mastered the art of rushing up the wing and tracking back when required. The 21-year old has shown the maturity that belies his age, which has made him hot property in the transfer market.
The full-back has played 25 games in the league this season, and has helped the team keep nine clean sheets.
With two caps for England’s U-21 team as well, he seems like a player for the future.
Wan-Bissaka: The missing piece of the jigsaw?
Manchester United have ageing full-backs in their squad with Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young being two of the players playing in that position. While Diogo Dalot is another option they have, Wan-Bissaka would give them the pace and strength that they have been searching for.
The Manchester United centre-halves have all proved themselves to be capable players, with Lindelof especially shining under Solskjaer. The only thing missing is a reliable right-back.
The side have looked like the Manchester United of old, who enjoy playing the game, rather than only looking for a result. The results have come as well, but on the right side, they have looked weak. Neither Valencia nor Young are natural right-backs, although they have both adapted to the position exceptionally well.
It’s time the board recognises the need to sign a new right-back. Manchester United desperately want to get back challenging for the title, and good players in every position is imperative for them to do that.
Wan-Bissaka has excelled with the defensive side of the game this season, having made an average of 3.8 tackles and 2.4 interceptions a game, which shows he can add more stability to the United defence.
With the offensive lineup they currently have, they have the potential to do that, but for that, they need to strengthen their defence as well, something the Crystal Palace full-back can add.
