Leicester City have been linked with a move for Sporting CP attacker Nuno Moreira, according to reports.
The 19-year old’s contract expires in the summer, which has attracted the likes of Celta Vigo, Genoa, West Ham United as well, according to Portuguese website Record (via Leicester Mercury).
Moreira hasn’t featured for the Sporting senior team yet, but has shown plenty of promise for the Under-23 side which has raised a few eyebrows.
Nuno Moreira – Fact file
A Sporting academy product, Moreira’s rise through the youth ranks has been quick. The academy has a history of producing world-class attackers, and though Moreira has a lot to prove, he is on course to become a top player.
The likes of Luis Figo, Cristiano Ronaldo, Simao, and Ricardo Quaresma are household names and have achieved quite a lot in their career, and if Moreira can keep up his good progress and development, he too can become a top-flight star.
Nuno Moreira – A complete package in attack
The 19-year old has quick feet, and often gets into good positions. Moreira is also a versatile player, can change positions in a game depending on how his team want to attack or the scenarios in a game.
For the Under-23 side, Moreira has often drifted into wide positions and has created chances because of his ability on the ball and change of pace.
Like a lot of Portuguese attackers, Moreira’s dribbling is one of his strongest assets and even in a crowded penalty box, he often tends to get shots away because of his trickery.
Leicester currently have a lot of young attackers in their squad. The likes of Demarai Gray, James Maddison, Harvey Barnes and Kelechi Iheanacho are 22 or less, and Rodgers has the players to chisel and build a team for the future.
However, signing too many young players might not be the right foot forward. With young players comes inconsistency, and Leicester have shown that in the last couple of seasons.
For a free transfer, Moreira would be a brilliant addition, but the club should try and target players who have experience and are at the peak of their prowess as well.
