Arsenal bagged all three points against Southampton earlier today after they secured a satisfying 2-0 win over the Saints at home.
Southampton had no reply to Alexandre Lacazette and Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s goals in the first half as Unai Emery’s men leapfrogged Manchester United into the top four in the Premier League table.
Here are our Arsenal player ratings from what transpired earlier today.
Bernd Leno 8/10
The former Bayer Leverkusen custodian was good between the sticks. He made two good saves in the first half and deserved his clean sheet.
Sead Kolasinac 8/10
Kolasinac once again showed his ability to get forward on a regular basis and tested the opposition backline.
Sokratis 8/10
The centre-back won four aerial duels and three tackles, and put in a stellar performance at the heart of the defence.
Shkodran Mustafi 7/10
Apart from an instance where his lack of decisiveness enabled Nathan Redmond to test Leno, he looked solid in central defence alongside Sokratis, and finished the game with four aerial duels won.
Stephan Lichtsteiner 7/10
The right-back maintained a good balance between his defensive duties and offensive endeavours. He was unlucky to pick up an injury in the second half.
Lucas Torreira 7/10
Torreira struggled to impose his dominance in the midfield initially, but found his feet as the game progressed. He showed good work-ethic throughout the game.
Granit Xhaka 8/10
The Swiss international was impeccable in the middle of the park as he not only won the duels in the midfield against Southampton’s midfielders, but also knitted the side together as a unit with his excellent vision and passing range. Finished with a pass accuracy of 90%.
Alex Iwobi 8/10
Iwobi was skilful on the left flank and his clinical movement on and off the ball made him a potent element. He assisted Mkhitaryan in the first half.
Aaron Ramsey 6/10
It was a forgettable outing for Ramsey as his passing was off and he struggled to make an impact.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan 8/10
Mkhitaryan put in one of his best performances in an Arsenal shirt. He bagged an assist and a goal, and showed incredible tenacity on the right flank, as he won four tackles.
Alexandre Lacazette 8/10
The French striker linked up well with his teammates in the final third, and found the back of the net in the early minutes of the game to take the pressure off the team.
