Manchester United join the race for 19-goal English striker: A good choice by Ole

Birmingham City’s sensational centre-forward Che Adams has lately been one of the major topics of discussion in the football fraternity and for good reason.

Adams has taken the English Championship by storm this season, having plundered 19 goals and 3 assists in 32 league appearances so far.

His goal-scoring exploits and clinical finishing abilities have been evident and there were efforts to lure him away from Birmingham in January as well. In fact, Burnley failed to sign him last month despite tabling a bid of £9m.

According to the Sun, he has now drawn admiration from Premier League sides Arsenal and Manchester United who are keen to sign him in the summer.

It would be interesting to see if he makes an exit from St. Andrew’s in the summer and where he lands at, in case his move actually transpires.

Would he be a good signing for Manchester United?

Following the departure of Jose Mourinho, Manchester United have been enjoying a rich vein of form under the tutelage of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Solskjaer has been able to inject a free-flowing attacking brand of football once again and United have looked their best in recent years.

However, the Red Devils have been over-reliant on Marcus Rashford as Romelu Lukaku has not been able to find the back of the net with any consistency whatsoever.

Besides, the likes of Juan Mata and Alexis Sanchez have not been able to cement their place in the starting line-up of Ole while Jesse Lingard has failed to attain consistency as far as his attacking contributions are concerned.

Impliedly, the red half of Manchester would be aiming to beef up their attacking arsenal in the summer and Adams would be a handy acquisition.

Adams is a versatile attacker and is capable enough to ply his trade as a central attacking midfielder as well as a winger, which he has done for the Blues on many occasions.

The 22-year-old thrives in the final third using his pace to good effect and his clever movements on and off the ball makes it hard for the opposition to keep a track on him.

Adams’ finishing prowess is evident from his goals tally and he takes little time inside the box to put chances away.

However, his aerial ability has been his drawback for some parts of the season due to his relatively modest height and he might at times face a similar disadvantage in the top flight.

Although he understandably lacks Premier League experience, he has shown immense self-belief and maturity and should be able to deal with the pressure if his move to Old Trafford materializes in the summer.
