Llorente to Start: Predicted Tottenham Hotspur Lineup vs Leicester City

tottenham hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur will host Leicester City this Sunday and will hope to keep up with Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table.

The Lilywhites have managed to grind out results despite missing some of their key players, and have closed the gap on Liverpool.

Manchester City’s win against Everton on Wednesday saw the Sky Blues move five clear of Tottenham.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side don’t have the cups to worry about, and some of their fringe players are hitting form at the right time to make up for Harry Kane and Dele Alli’s absence.

Tottenham will have to be wary of Leicester though as the Foxes tend to do well against the top sides.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Spurs will be without Kane and Alli until March. Ben Davies is also likely to miss out against Leicester which could see Danny Rose feature at left-back.

Fernando Llorente is in line to start after a substitute appearance against Newcastle United last time out.

Predicted Tottenham Hotspur Lineup vs Leicester

Defence

Hugo Lloris should keep his place in goal. Jan Vertonghen is expected to return to his favoured centre-half role after starting as a left-back against Newcastle.

Vertonghen should partner Toby Alderweireld at the heart of the defence. Kieran Trippier and Rose might start as the two full-backs.

Midfield

Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko did a good job against Newcastle, but we might see Eric Dier come in for the latter, considering Leicester’s attacking threat.

The likes of Jamie Vardy and James Maddison are threats on the counter, and someone like Dier, who will sit in front of the defence, would add more defensive stability to the team.

Christian Eriksen should start in a slightly advanced midfield role and play as the number 10.

Attack

Llorente might lead the line for Spurs, which means Heung-min Son and Lucas Moura might be given the nod to start on the wings.

Son’s ability to combine with the rest of the attackers and Eriksen has helped the team against low-blocks, and the South Korean just doesn’t seem to run out of energy despite playing a lot of games in recent weeks.
