Tottenham Hotspur revive interest in Samba star: How they might line up with him

Tottenham Hotspur have rekindled their interest in Malcom, having initially failed to secure his services in the summer, it has been reported.

Spurs are keen to sign a new forward this month, after star striker Harry Kane has been ruled out of action till March.

According to the Independent, the Lilywhites want Malcom on loan until the rest of the season as it would fit the club considering they don’t have much money to spend.

Malcom has struggled with lack of game time under Ernesto Valverde and therefore, a move away from Camp Nou could be on the horizon as he looks for more regular playing time.

And here is how the Tottenham lineup could look, should the club manage to sign Malcom in the transfer window.

Defence

After struggling with injury for the most part of the campaign, Jan Vertonghen returned to the pitch in the narrow defeat to Manchester United last weekend. And the Belgian is likely to remain Tottenham’s number one choice in defence, along with compatriot Toby Alderweireld.

Davinson Sanchez, however, will provide Pochettino with an additional option.

Kieran Trippier is likely to remain Spurs’ first choice right-back. However, Pochettino will certainly have the privilege of rotating him with the Serge Aurier. Ben Davies, on the other hand, will play on the opposite flank, with Danny Rose also an option.

Hugo Lloris will stay in goal as the Frenchman looks to produce better performances during the remainder of the campaign.

Midfield

Victor Wanyama is out injured but Pochettino will be delighted to have Eric Dier back in action. The England international should be reinstigated as the main holding midfielder in Tottenham’s 4-3-1-2.

While Dier is expected to play a deeper role in midfield, Moussa Sissoko could feature as the central midfield, alongside Christian Eriksen.

The Frenchman will be tasked with the responsibility of disrupting opposition’s flow in midfield and also cause trouble with his marauding runs in the final third while Eriksen will look to provide the creative essence in the middle.

Attack

With Kane injured and Heung Min-Son unavailable due to international duty, Pochettino will be forced to deploy Lucas Moura and Malcom in the two-man attacking setup while Dele Alli will operate as the lone attacking midfielder.

Malcom has featured as a secondary striker during his time at Bordeaux and therefore, he won’t be a complete stranger to that position at Spurs.

It will certainly be interesting to see how this transfer saga takes shape in the coming days.
