Key Change In Midfield: 4-3-3 Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs Burnley

manchester united

Manchester United will look to continue their magnificent form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when they host a struggling Burnley outfit at Old Trafford today.

Their 3-1 win over Arsenal in the FA Cup made it 8 wins out of 8 under the Norwegian. This series of results have propelled them right back in the race for a Top 4 spot and also makes them a strong contender in the cup competitions they are still a part.

The injury troubles which had plagued them in the dying embers of Jose’s tumultuous reign also seem to be dissipating and with the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku impressing against Arsenal, Ole will now have a healthy selection headache to deal with.

MANCHESTER UNITED TEAM NEWS

Chris Smalling has trained with the squad this week and could come into contention against the Clarets. Marouane Fellaini and Marcos Rojo are still sidelined though Scott McTominay had a good run out against the PSG U-23s on Friday.

DEFENCE

David de Gea will start in goal. He has been fantastic in recent weeks and will back himself to keep a clean sheet today.

Victor Lindelof looks an assured starter especially with the form he has shown since Solskjaer’s appointment. But Phil Jones will be put under pressure by Bailey and the returning Chris Smalling. But we think Phil Jones will retain his place as of now.

We might see a start for Diogo Dalot at right-back if Ole wants to give Ashley Young’s ageing legs a breather. On the left, Luke Shaw is set to feature after recovering from illness against Arsenal.

MIDFIELD

Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera all featured against Arsenal. But with five days to go before United’s next Premier League assignment, it is unlikely that there will be a whole lot of changes in the midfield. But we might see a start for Fred in place of Herrera.

ATTACK

Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku shone against the Gunners but are likely to make way for Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford. The latter has been in terrific form and will be backed to get on the scoresheet again. Jesse Lingard should retain his place on the right even though Juan Mata will be the go-to man if the manager wants to change things further.
