Newcastle United Linked With a Transfer for Fleet-Footed Winger: Much Needed Spark

Newcastle United are eyeing a move for Everton outcast Yannick Bolasie, it has been reported as we head into deadline day.

The former Crystal Palace winger reportedly wants a move away from Goodison Park after struggling to break into the Everton first team under Marco Silva, with Newcastle a potential suitor, according to Mirror.

The Magpies have struggled with the lack of resources in the attacking department and Bolasie, who has returned from his short loan spell at Aston Villa, is a sensible choice.

Yannick Bolasie: A move Newcastle need to make

Newcastle’s lack of resources in the attacking department has been detrimental to their form this season, with the Magpies languishing at the wrong end of the table, having scored just 21 goals from 24 matches.

While it can be argued that the Tyneside outfit have struggled with injuries, it has been their lack of supply in the final third, which has prevented the likes of Salomon Rondon and Joselu from finding the back of the net on a consistent basis.

Matt Ritchie has appeared as the only spark in the Newcastle attack this season, with Kenedy often struggling with consistency while the likes of Jacob Murphy and Christian Atsu blowing hot and cold as well.

Therefore, the addition of a new winger is imperative and Bolasie, in that regard, could be the ideal option for the Magpies.

The Everton outcast is a dynamic winger blessed with pace, strength, and trickery. Although Bolasie can be defined as an old school winger who likes to get to the byline and provide a hoard of dangerous crosses into the box, it’s his exceptional dribbling ability that makes him such a feared attacker.

The Congolese international was regarded as one of Premier League’s best dribblers during his time with Crystal Palace. Bolasie’s explosive pace coupled with a box of skills allows him to breeze past defenders, and his willingness to take on defenders would add more dynamism to the Newcastle attack.

The 29-year-old’s ability to provide good crosses into the box might be useful, especially with Rondon’s presence.

Bolasie has appeared a bit more lost on the ball after leaving from Palace, and the Congolese international certainly needs to improve on those lapses, if he is to make a mark at St. James’ Park.
