According to The Sun, Chelsea are keen to offload Victor Moses in the upcoming January transfer window, which has put Crystal Palace on red alert.
The Nigerian international has appeared out of favour under new coach Maurizio Sarri, featuring only twice in the league this season.
As a result, the Italian is keen to offload Moses in January to make way for new players. Palace have been linked with a move, but would he be a good signing for them?
Victor Moses – A Good player for Crystal Palace
Moses was a regular for Chelsea under the previous coach Antonio Conte, with the Nigerian international notably helping the Blues to a Premier League title back in 2017.
While he may be a versatile player, who can feature in both defence and attack, Moses’ lack of technical prowess has been seen as a huge weakness in his game by Sarri, which is understandable given his possession-based, quick passing game.
But as iterated earlier, it’s Moses’ versatility which makes him a unique player and his ability to play as a right-back as well as right-midfielder could be a boon for Crystal Palace.
Although Aaron-Wan Bissaka has been exceptional so far this season, the Eagles do lack reliable backup for him in the right-back slot. Moses, in that regard, could provide some much-needed depth.
During his time with Chelsea, Moses impressed Conte with his excellent tenacity as well as crossing – which is an essential feature of Roy Hodgson’s gameplan. Therefore, the Nigerian international can be deployed in the wide position, from where he can provide crosses into the box or stretch play.
On the flip side, Moses lacks the defensive solidity and while he may provide adequate support in attack, he certainly needs to improve on his overall crossing accuracy. But, the biggest flaw in his game is the fact that he often struggles against a quick player.
Moses is certainly a viable target for the Eagles as his vast experience in the English top flight coupled with his versatility make him a good target.
Furthermore, at the age of 27, Moses is currently at his peak and would be a long-term signing by the Eagles.
