Although one would argue that Wilmar Barrios may not be a like for like replacement for Mousa Dembele, his robust style of play in midfield will add some much-needed competition for Eric Dier and Vincent Wanyama.
Indeed, Barrios is primarily a defensive midfielder, who can read the game very well while his physical prowess often helps his team dominate the middle of the pitch.
He was linked with a transfer to the Premier League in the summer and although a move didn’t materialise, the player himself has confirmed that he will be considering offers in January, allowing Spurs to make a move for the Colombian international, who can definitely solidify the midfield department.
Tanguy Ndombele has been a subject of major transfer speculation of late, thanks to his excellent performances with Lyon this season.
Although the 21-year-old has been a regular for his team since last season, he has definitely raised some eyebrows, thanks to his dynamic display in the middle of the park.
Much like Watford star Abdoulaye Doucoure, Ndombele is advertised as an attack-minded midfielder, who loves to get forward and assist his teammates in the final third. He is also blessed with excellent technical qualities and his composure belies his age
However, being so young, Ndombele would cost a fortune for Spurs.
