The Best And The Worst Liverpool Players Rated Against Fulham

Liverpool continued their unbeaten run in the league after securing a convincing 2-0 win over newly promoted Fulham before the international break.

Here are the Liverpool players rated in their win over the Cottagers.

Alisson (8/10): Had nothing to do for the most part of the game, especially in the first half hour when he was hardly tested. However, he made a great save to deny Andre Schurrle while also showing remarkable intelligence to initiate Mohamed Salah’s opener.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (8/10): Made a lot of runs out wide, which proved to be effective as Liverpool as dominated the opposition for the large parts of the game. His dangerous crosses, in particular, caused a myriad of problems. Had very little to do defensively.

Joe Gomez (7/10): Looked wobbly at times when in possession and Fulham should have made better use of his lack of a concentration. Aside from that, he remained pretty solid as the Reds secured yet another clean sheet at home.

Virgil van Dijk (7.5/10): His presence in the Liverpool backline was important in stopping the dangerous Aleksandar Mitrovic, whose exceptional physical and aerial prowess could have been a real issue for any other defender.

Andrew Robertson (8.5/10): Thrive on the left flank, often making useful runs in the final third in order to provide more support to the Liverpool attack. He helped his side set-up the second goal from Xherdan Shaqiri with a deep-cross from the left flank.

Georginio Wijnaldum (7.5/10): His dynamism and work-ethic were beneficial for the home side as the Dutchman was key in clearing out loose balls in midfield. He was also very composed in possession, attaining a pass accuracy of 95%, more than anyone else on the pitch.

Fabinho (7.5/10): A relatively better performance from the Brazilian international, who has had a rusty start to his career at Liverpool. He made quite a lot of tackles in midfield and his excellent positioning helped Liverpool contain the dynamic Fulham midfield.

Xherdan Shaqiri (8/10): Impressed in a rare start, making a lot of useful runs in the final third. His dynamism and quick movements kept the defenders occupied but his well-timed volleyed finish just after the restart will remain the highlight of Shaqiri’s performance this afternoon.

Roberto Firmino (7.5/10): His quick-witted movements in the final third nullified Fulham’s intense press in and around the penalty area. He also combined well with Mohamed Salah but it was more or less an unconvincing performance from the Brazilian international, who never looked like scoring.

Sadio Mane (7/10): A wasteful performance from the Senegalese international, who failed to convert a glaring opportunity in the early stages of the contest. Jurgen Klopp will expect better performances in the upcoming matches.

Mohamed Salah (9/10): Stole the show with yet another comprehensive attacking display. Salah was almost untouchable, at times, combining well with teammates in the final third. The Egyptian has already netted five goals in Liverpool’s six home games so far this season.

Substitutes

Jordan Henderson (7/10): Replaced Gini Wijnaldum midway through the first. His impressive work-ethic and solidity helped Liverpool see out their two-goal cushion.

James Milner (NA): Came on for Xherdan Shaqiri in the 81st minute to add more steel into the Liverpool midfield.

Naby Keita (NA): Late replacement for Fabinho.
