Predicted 3-4-3 Leeds United Lineup vs Wigan Athletic: Harrison Starts

Marcelo Bielsa

Leeds United will look to bounce back after dropping two points against Nottingham Forest when they take on Wigan Athletic on Sunday.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side had to rely on a Kemar Roofe goal that came in controversial circumstance late in the game and have dropped to fourth in the league table after results elsewhere earlier today and need a win to return to the top of the table.

Leeds don’t have the best of records against Wigan as they have managed just one win in the last five against the Latics. The travelling fans will be hoping their team can change that tomorrow.

Leeds United Team News

Bielsa has quite a few injury worries to deal with, especially at the back. Luke Ayling and Gaetano Berardi have been ruled out of the clash which means Barry Douglas could be drafted into the team after featuring for the U23 side earlier in the week.

Predicted Leeds United Lineup

Defence

Douglas could line up in a three-man defence alongside Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper. Douglas’ return will be a big boost as he has averaged more tackles than any other Leeds player this season with 2.9 tackles a game.

Bailey Peacock-Farrell should start as the ‘keeper once again.

Leeds have sown a bit of weakness in set-pieces and the defenders perhaps need to be more assertive while dealing with the dead-ball situation.

Midfield

Fortunately, Bielsa hasn’t had any fresh injury concerns in regards to the midfielders. Mateusz Klich and Kalvin Phillips should start in the midfield pivot with the former playing a box to box role.

Phillips has done a good job in front of the defence and has the ability to make the forward dash every now and then. With more than dribble a game, he is no slouch when it comes to going forward.

Ezgjan Alioski and Samu Saiz could start on the wider areas.

Attack

On loan winger Jack Harrison started on the left against Ipswich and could feature in the same role against Wigan. Pablo Hernandez will add the width and creativity from the right.

Kemar Roofe has done well after returning from his injury and will look to keep his good form intact when he starts up top.

Harrison – Roofe – Hernandez

Alioski – Phillips – Klich – Saiz

Douglas – Jansson – Cooper
