Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was desperate to land a world-class centre-back to his ranks but his wish didn’t materialize. The Red Devils are really struggling at the moment, having won just three of their seven games in the Premier League, and they do need new faces in January.
As per one of the latest reports by Fotbolldirekt, Mourinho has placed Swedish international Andreas Granqvist on his radar and is set to attempt to lure him to the Old Trafford in the January transfer window. Granqvist currently plies his trade for Swedish side Helsingborgs IF.
The 33-year-old had previously plied his trade for Wigan Athletic, Groningen and Genoa and has volumes of experience under his belt. He played a starring role for his national side in the World Cup earlier this year and helped them in reaching the quarter-finals.
As per Sky Sports, the English giants are interested to sign him on loan. When asked about Manchester United’s interest to make him sign on the dotted line, he said: “I know that there is a lot of interest for me. United is incredibly flattering but I have not heard anything concrete yet.”
