Tottenham Hotspur will look to progress in the EFL Cup when they take on West Ham United in the round of 16 tie on Wednesday.
Spurs are winless in their last two games as they drew against PSV Eindhoven and were narrowly beaten by Manchester City on Monday.
Mauricio Pochettino has a decision to make as a couple of their first-team stars returned to action against City but it could be too early to throw them onto the pitch for the cup tie.
Tottenham Team News
Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen had cameos against City and the manager will have to decide if he wants to start with them. Alli looked sharp after he came on, so he might get a start.
Predicted Tottenham Lineup
Defence
Pochettino, unfortunately, doesn’t have too many options up his sleeve when it comes to making changes at the back. Davinson Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld could continue at the back.
Serge Aurier should replace Kieran Trippier whose error cost Spurs the game against City. Ben Davies is likely to keep his place at left-back.
Hugo Lloris wasn’t at his assertive best against Man City and will get a breather as Paulo Gazzaniga might get his chance in the cup tie.
Midfield
Harry Winks made an impact when he came on against City and could start alongside Victor Wanyama in central midfield. Winks will be given the licence to make a few forward bursts and hurt the Hammers in transition.
Alli could get the chance to play behind the striker in the number 10 role. The England international could have had an assist against Manchester City had Lamela take his chance in the dying embers of the Premier League game on Monday.
Attack
Eric Lamela could be given a chance to redeem himself after that miss against City. Heung-Min Son, an unused substitute against City, could start on the left wing with Fernando Llorente leading the line.
Christian Eriksen is very likely to play some part regardless of the score as Pochettino will want to ease him back into action. Do not be surprised if Alli is subbed off early either as he isn’t match-fit after missing nearly a month.
