The Championship this season, so far, has been one of the most closely contested in recent times. After 12 games, just 6 points separate the Top 6 and a couple of results either way can change the complexion of the table in a major way. With the international break completing a week, we decided to have a look at arguably the strongest Championship XI based on what we have seen so far this season.

Goalkeeper: Darren Randolph

Middlesbrough’s undisputed first-choice custodian has been brilliant under the bar. He has conceded just 6 goals in 12 games, collecting 8 clean sheets in the process.

Right-Back: Connor Roberts

Swansea City have played an adventurous brand of football so far this season and Connor Roberts has been a joy to watch on the flank.

Centre-Back: Daniel Ayala

At the back, the Smoggies have been thoroughly resilient and Daniel Ayala has been one of their best performers. After 8 starts, he averages 1.4 tackles and 7.5 clearances every game.
