In their latest Championship fixture, Aston Villa picked up a 1-0 win over Swansea City at the Villa Park, thanks to a goal from Tammy Abraham. They are due to lock horns with Norwich City at the Carrow Road on Tuesday and will look to build on the win and start their ascent up the table.
Under the tutelage of their new manager Dean Smith, Aston Villa need to better their credentials. They have collected 18 points from 13 games thus far and have to find some consistency before it is too late.
Aston Villa Team News
Keinan Davis, who had suffered a groin injury, is back in training. However, Harry McKirdy is still a few weeks away from making his return after having dislocated his shoulder. John McGinn is suspended for the upcoming fixture and he will be a major absentee for Aston Villa in the middle of the park.
Defence
Orjan Nyland is expected to be stationed under the bar once again in the upcoming league fixture. The newcomer made a string of commendable saves against the Swans but he certainly needs to distribute the ball in a better manner.
The central defensive pairing of Axel Tuanzebe and James Chester is set to start once again. Chester has mustered 1 tackle and 7.8 clearances per game on an average this season after 12 league starts and has undoubtedly brought a lot of resilience to the back line.
Alan Hutton is likely to continue at right-back after having notched up a clean sheet in the last game. Neil Taylor should get the green light to start from the left-back position against the Yellow Army.
Midfield
The central midfield partnership of Birkir Bjarnason and McGinn was impressive for the Lions on Saturday. However, McGinn picked up his fifth booking of the season against the Swans and will be absent from the proceedings tomorrow. Conor Hourihane is likely to take his place.
Ahmed Elmohamady is adept at striking a balance between defence and attack. He is expected to start on the right side of the midfield. On the left, we expect Yannick Bolasie to be handed a start in place of Albert Adomah.
Attack
Last match’s hero, Tammy Abraham is expected to lead the line. He is a clinical goal-getter and will play a huge role for Aston Villa this season. Jack Grealish hasn’t been at his best yet but he could be the one operating as the no. 10 once again.
