Everton will be aiming to bring some consistency to their league campaign when they travel to King Power Stadium to face Leicester City on Saturday. The Merseyside outfit have been far from perfect under new coach Marco Silva this season and were dumped out of the Carabao Cup earlier this week.
The Toffees registered a strong 3-0 win over Fulham last week, however, and another win this weekend could potentially help them move ahead of Manchester United in the league table. Beating Leicester City, however, will be no walk in the park.
Often regarded as one of the most consistent teams in the English top flight, the Foxes are on a three-game winning streak in all competitions.
Everton Team news
Everton will miss out on the services new signing Yerry Mina and reliable fullback Seamus Coleman. Andre Gomes is still a doubt.
Predicted Everton Lineup
Defence
Jonjoe Kenny will continue to deputise for the injured Seamus Coleman as the right-back while new signing Lucas Digne will be deployed on the opposite flank. The Frenchman has impressed since joining the club in the summer, averaging over one key pass while making almost two tackles per game.
Michael Keane will spearhead the Everton backline alongside Kurt Zouma, who is likely to be benched once Yerry Mina returns to full fitness. And in goal, England number one Jordan Pickford will be looking to produce a solid display this weekend before heading to international duty with the Three Lions.
Midfield
Tom Davies is once again expected to be given the nod ahead of the more experienced Morgan Schneiderlin in midfield. The young midfielder will partner Idrissa Gueye at the base of Everton’s 4-2-3-1.
Gylfi Sigurdsson, on the other hand, will be deployed as the lone attacking midfielder or the number 10. The former Swansea superstar has performed significantly better than last season, having already notched up three goals and one assist in seven games while averaging more key passes than anyone else in the team. Two of his goals came in the win over Fulham last weekend.
Attack
Cenk Tosun will be leading the attack for Everton alongside the very effective wide-duo of Theo Walcott and Richarlison. Tosun has scored only once in the league this term, but his excellent work-ethic is tailor-made for Marco Silva’s footballing philosophy.
We also expect Dominic-Calvert Lewin to make a second-half appearance, having started in the win over Fulham last weekend.
