Aston Villa returned to winning ways in the Championship after they secured a 2-0 win over Rotherham United at the Villa Park on Tuesday.
Steve Bruce must have let out a huge sigh of relief after his side earned all three points as they were struggling to make any sort of impact in the previous games.
At the moment, the Villans are sixth in the Championship table with 13 points from eight league games. Today, Sheffield Wednesday are due to be hosted by Bruce’s men and at the onset, it promises to be an intriguing game of football between the two sides.
Aston Villa Team News
While Scott Hogan is back in training after his groin injury, Keinan Davis is a few days away from making his return. Apart from these two, Bruce has a fit squad to choose from and we expect him to field a strong side today.
Predicted Aston Villa Lineup vs Sheffield Wednesday
Defence
Summer signing Orjan Nyland has been performing well under the bar and we expect him to get the green light from Bruce to start once again. Ahead of him, we expect a four-man defensive wall comprising of Alan Hutton, Mile Jedinak, James Chester and Ahmed Elmohamady.
Jedinak and Chester have struggled at times and there is no denying that these two need to be thoroughly resilient to push their side towards promotion. Hutton, who has averaged 3.6 clearances and 0.9 tackles in 8 starts, is set to operate from the left-back slot, with Elmohamady on the other side.
Midfield
John McGinn has been absolutely delightful to watch and he has been the engine room for the Lions. He has mustered 2 assists in 7 league appearances so far this season and he is likely to start in central midfield along with Conor Hourihane.
Albert Adomah might get the nod ahead of Anwar El Ghazi on the right wing after the latter’s unimpressive outing in the mid-week fixture. Meanwhile, Jack Grealish is expected to start on the opposite flank. A lot is expected of the player this season and it is about time he gets down to business.
Attack
Tammy Abraham and Jonathan Kodjia are likely to start in a front two and will look to take the game to the opposition from the outset.
