As per reports by The Sun, Manchester United are all set to dish out £98 million to lure Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi to Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho is keen on bolstering his forward line in the January transfer window and has set his sights on Icardi.
Icardi emerged through the youth ranks of Vecindario, Barcelona and Sampdoria and was eventually elevated to the senior side of the Serie A outfit.
After a season with them, Inter Milan lured him to their ranks in the summer of 2013 and he has proved to be a handy asset for the Italian giants.
In 34 Serie A appearances last term, the Argentina international plundered 29 goals and registered an assist and is one of the hottest properties in Europe.
Reportedly, Mourinho is trying to convince the board to fork out his release clause as he is desperate to get him on board.
Alongside the Red Devils, Real Madrid are also believed to be interested to make him sign on the dotted line.
Icardi’s current deal with Inter Milan is set to expire in 2021 and apart from handing him a new bumper deal, his employers are also keen on increasing his release clause to keep him away from potential suitors.
