Celtic clinched all three points earlier today against their arch-rivals Rangers at the Celtic Park. Olivier Ntcham’s goal in the second-half of the Scottish Premiership fixture proved to be the difference between the two sides in what was a hotly contested Old Firm Derby.

However, as many as five Celtic fans suffered injury prior to the start of the match. Hundreds of fans of the home side were stuck outside the ground and missed the early stages of the game. The scenes raised grave concerns on the safety and security of the fans.

While people attempted to climb the wall to witness the game following the closure of the gate which gave them access to the ground, many were crushed in the process. Among the five fans injured, one of them even required medical treatment.

Chief Superintendent Brian McInulty of Police Scotland, after the incident, said: “Five people were treated by first aiders when fans were attempting to get into the stadium. Four people were treated at the scene and then went into the ground, and the other was taken to hospital after a fall from the wall bordering Janefield St.”
