As per one of the latest reports by Daily Star, Chelsea’s defensive stalwart Gary Cahill is keen to leave Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window. Cahill has fallen down in the pecking order of Maurizio Sarri and is, therefore, vouching for an outlet.
The 32-year-old emerged through the youth ranks of Aston Villa and while he was on their books, he mustered successful loan spells with Burnley and Sheffield United. After his move to Bolton Wanderers, he established himself as one of the best defenders in English football.
In the January transfer window of 2012, the Englishman switched to Chelsea and went on to win the Premier League twice, apart from lifting the FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League and Europa League. However, he has not played a single minute so far this season.
Chelsea’s new boss Sarri has preferred to operate with a four-man back line and he has imposed a lot of faith on the partnership of David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger. With Andreas Christiansen and Ethan Ampadu also available on the books of Sarri, it would be intriguing to see what lies ahead of Cahill.
