Formation Change: Predicted 4-2-3-1 Tottenham Hotspur Lineup vs Liverpool

Formation Change: Predicted 4-2-3-1 Tottenham Hotspur Lineup vs Liverpool 1

A defeat at the hands of Watford before the International break ruined Tottenham Hotspur’s cent percent record in the league and the team will be itching to bounce back when they host Liverpool this weekend. The Tottenham fans will have sweet memories from their last encounter with Liverpool at Wembley.

Jürgen Klopp’s side were dismantled 4-1 by Spurs and the return leg at Anfield also ended 2-2 as Spurs picked up four points against the Reds last season.

Liverpool are currently ahead of Tottenham in the embryonic Premier League table but if the hosts play to their potential, we could have another entertaining game with the home side coming out on top.

Tottenham Team News

The side were handed a blow when reports emerged that Dele Alli was not fit enough to start for the England senior team. However, Gareth Southgate revealed that the injury isn’t bad enough for him to miss the Liverpool clash.

Heung-Min Son is back with the Tottenham squad but it’d be a surprise if he starts against Liverpool after playing as many as eight international games in little less than four weeks.

Tottenham Predicted Lineup

Defence

Hugo Lloris has had an avoidable off the field issue but it shouldn’t affect his on the field performances. He was pretty impressive against Manchester United a few weeks ago and could have a busy outing against Liverpool.

Pochettino went with a back three against Watford but we expect him to revert to the four-man defence. Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are expected to line up as the two centre-halves. Ben Davies could return to his favoured left-back role while Kieran Trippier is expected to start on the right.

Midfield

Pochettino’s midfield diamond didn’t work wonders against Manchester United, though the team eventually ran away as comfortable winners. Against a high-pressing Liverpool side, we could see a more pragmatic two-man midfield pivot comprising Mousa Dembele and Eric Dier.

Christian Eriksen has taken the most number of shots from the Tottenham side so far and could start in the slightly advanced number 10 role.

Attack

Harry Kane will obviously lead the line. Though the World Cup Golden Boot winner broke his August hoodoo, he is yet to fire like he usually does and the fans will hope he does against Liverpool.

Lucas Moura has been like a virtual summer signing after his impressive performances so far. The Brazilian took a while to get adjusted to the pace of the game in England after signing a few months ago but boy has he delivered in the opening four games.

Dele Alli is expected to complete the attack. He is expected to be passed fit for the game and that’ll come as a huge relief for the fans.
