As per one of the latest reports by Football Italia, Fiorentina have agreed terms with West Ham United to sign Edimilson Fernandes on loan. It is reported that the Serie A outfit will roll out £800,000 to prise Fernandes out of the London Stadium temporarily, with an option to buy him permanently for £8m at the end of the season.
The Hammers, under their new manager Manuel Pellegrini, made a superb use of the summer transfer window. They made the likes of Jack Wilshere, Felipe Anderson, Lucas Perez, Carlos Sanchez and Issa Diop sign on the dotted line to beef up their ranks. Owing to the arrival of reinforcements, Fernandes’ chances are set to be limited.
The 22-year-old emerged through the youth ranks of Swiss side FC Sion and after impressing for their senior team, he was signed by the Irons for €6.4m in the summer of 2016. He has been sidelined due to injuries time and again, although he impressed during the closing stages of the previous campaign under David Moyes.
Nonetheless, he is still young and has time to put his career on the right track once again. West Ham United’s midfield sector now has a plethora of stars and considering that he hasn’t been able to engineer a regular place in the starting XI of the London based side in the last two seasons, his exit will make a lot of sense.
