Unai Emery had stationed Aaron Ramsey in his starting line-up against Manchester City in Arsenal’s opening game of the new Premier League season. The Gunners were beaten 2-0 by Pep Guardiola’s men and reportedly, Emery was dissatisfied with the performance of Ramsey.
Intriguingly, one of the latest reports by Metro has stated that Arsenal’s players, including Ramsey, were left stunned after the former Paris Saint-Germain boss dropped the Welsh international on the bench against Chelsea on Saturday. Impliedly, Emery has been quick to impose his ruthlessness on his players.
The 27-year-old midfielder replaced Mesut Ozil with just 20 minutes remaining. Unarguably, he had developed himself as one of the most important players during the reign of Arsene Wenger owing to his stupendous displays more often than not. But Emery clearly preferred his latest performance over previous track record during his side’s 3-2 loss at the hands of Maurizio Sarri’s troops.
Ramsey has been in talks with the club over the extension of his contract with is due to expire at the end of the ongoing campaign. Teams such as Manchester United and Chelsea are circling him, but the North London based outfit are determined to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium.
